I'm afraid that I'd probably not be able to provide you with the necessary mentoring to allow that to happen. I've not really done any work on this project in quite a long time, but if you wanted to spend some time improving it (probably outside of the gsoc framework) the source code these days is a part of the main DocBook code repository. ta, dave
